Wrexham have enjoyed a fine start to the season and continued that with a superb 3-0 victory over Shrewsbury Town on Saturday.
Phil Parkinson’s side have been superb to start the new campaign and made it three wins from three home games on Saturday.
Ollie Palmer opened the scoring against rivals Shrewsbury Town before Elliot Lee fired home number two.
Wrexham sealed the win with a third goal in the second half as Jack Marriott continued his strong start to the campaign with another goal.
That is now four clean sheets in a row for Wrexham and Parkinson’s fine start to the campaign currently shows no sign of slowing down.
Phil Parkinson on potential Wrexham signing
Wrexham continue to predominantly use players from last season’s promotion-winning campaign out of League Two.
Saturday’s lineup only featured two new faces as George Dobson and Ollie Rathbone both started whilst Arthur Okonkwo – who spent last season on loan at Wrexham – started in goal again.
Even from the substitutes, Wrexham only brought on one new signing in Sebastian Revan.
The likes of Callum Burton, Modou Faal and Dan Scarr were all unused substitutes against Shrewsbury with Wrexham’s summer business centred around adding serious depth to the squad.
Wrexham can be happy with the summer transfer window but Parkinson may even have another addition lined up.
Eagle-eyed supporters spotted free agent midfielder Josh Adam in training with Wrexham ahead of the transfer deadline.
No deal has been announced yet but Parkinson has now confirmed his interest in Adam after seeing him in training.
Speaking to The Athletic’s Richard Sutcliffe, Parkinson admitted that Adam has been on trial with Wrexham.
Parkinson admitted that Wrexham would ‘like to keep’ Adam and believe that he has ‘real talent’.
Adam one for the future
Wrexham fans wanted to see the club bring the age profile of Parkinson’s squad down over the summer.
Experienced, proven performers had been relied upon in the National League and League Two but Wrexham needed to add more talent for the future.
Summer signings Okonkwo, Revan and Lewis Brunt all fit into that mould and Adam would too.
The Scottish midfielder was a highly-rated talent at Celtic, sparking a 2020 move to Manchester City.
Adam featured 39 times in Premier League 2 for City, recording six goals and two assists from midfield.
Still only 20, Adam is the kind of talent Wrexham can take a chance on and hopefully develop him for the future around the likes of George Dobson, Andy Cannon, James McClean and Elliot Lee.
Adam may not kick on and become a first-team star but Wrexham seem ready to take a punt on him on a free transfer in the near future, given that he can be signed outside of the transfer window.
