Phil Parkinson comments on Dan Scarr, Sebastian Revan and Steven Fletcher displays after Wrexham defeat at Stevenage

Wrexham were beaten 1-0 on Tuesday night as Phil Parkinson tasted defeat away at Stevenage – but three players still impressed him.

Wrexham had endured a tricky week having faced two lengthy trips for an away double-header.

The 0-0 draw at Leyton Orient last weekend was a solid if unspectacular result with Wrexham not exactly at their best.

Wrexham then headed to Stevenage and heavy rainfall meant the game was in danger of being postponed.

A late pitch inspection took place, the game went ahead and Wrexham lost 1-0 to a Louis Thompson winner.

One point from two away games is not exactly ideal but Parkinson has managed to find some positives.

Phil Parkinson praises Wrexham trio

Wrexham made a number of changes to the starting lineup against Stevenage.

Dan Scarr came in for the injured Max Cleworth whilst George Evans started after impressing off the bench against Leyton Orient.

Sebastian Revan and Steven Fletcher also came into the side but couldn’t help Wrexham claim all three points at the Lamex Stadium.

Evans ended up going off injured but the other three players mentioned impressed Parkinson.

Speaking to The Athletic, Parkinson praised defender Scarr and wing back Revan, feeling they both played well at Stevenage.

Parkinson added that striker Fletcher showed ‘real quality’ in the Wrexham attack, taking his chance in the team.

“I was looking forward to seeing how the lads who haven’t played much did with their opportunity,” said Parkinson.

“Dan Scarr took it well, in the main. Seb did well also, while Fletch on his first start of the season showed some real quality,” he added.

Parkinson left with decisions to make

Cleworth’s injury isn’t as bad as first feared but featuring against Northampton Town this weekend seems unlikely.

That means Scarr may well keep his place at the back whilst Evans will miss out after his injury blow.

Revan could keep his place but Parkinson may be minded to move James McClean to left wing back again, bringing Elliot Lee into midfield.

Wrexham have rotated Fletcher, Paul Mullin, Jack Marriott and Ollie Palmer this season, showing the depth of Parkinson’s options.

Fletcher seems to have impressed Parkinson the most of the players who came in on Tuesday night and the veteran forward will be hopeful of starting again this weekend.
