Phil Parkinson has just been told exactly what Wrexham must avoid doing vs Leyton Orient

Wrexham face an away trip to Leyton Orient this weekend and have just been given the lowdown on their latest opposition.

After suffering their first league defeat of the season on Monday, Phil Parkinson watched his side get back on track this past Saturday.

Wrexham welcomed Crawley Town to the Racecourse Ground and came away with a 2-1 win.

That victory ensured Phil Parkinson and his men kept their place at the League One summit for at least one more week.

The result also means Wrexham now have one of the best home records in the EFL, being named alongside the likes of Manchester City for the longest unbeaten home runs in the country.

However, their upcoming clash will not be at the Racecourse, instead taking place at Brisbane Road.

Now, ahead of the tie, the Welsh side have been given some very helpful tips for what they must avoid doing against Leyton Orient.

Darren Ferguson tells Wrexham what to avoid vs Leyton Orient

Despite the League One season not being paused during international breaks, only a few teams were in action earlier in September.

As a result, a lot of third-tier fixtures are being played out in midweek, one of which saw Wrexham’s upcoming opponents in action against Peterborough United.

Peterborough faced off with Leyton Orient at their ground on Tuesday evening and were forced to settle for a point.

Following the match, Posh boss Darren Ferguson, as per the Peterborough Telegraph, has outlined why his side did not win and what Orient were good at, giving Parkinson an idea of exactly what his Wrexham team must avoid doing this weekend.

He said: “The home team were the better team. We were not anywhere near our best on and off the ball and to take a point is probably good.

“They were more aggressive than us all over the pitch, they won second balls, all the duels. We didn’t pass forward quick enough and when we did we didn’t see the results. We were poor on and off the ball.

“We had far too many bad passes back to Jed, especially when it is on his right foot when he’s left footed.

“We didn’t get the ball to our forwards quickly enough or anywhere near enough in the second half.

“In terms of game management. I’ve seen a lot of naivety tonight. In the last minute, we’ve got a corner, take it short and they go up the pitch on the counter attack, very naive.

“We work on the training ground all of the time but the players need to take responsibility themselves for certain things in the game. Duels, second balls and headers, they are the basics of the game.”

What Wrexham can learn from Peterborough United

Wrexham beat Peterborough earlier this season, which should already given them a confidence boost ahead of facing Orient, who only managed to come away a point on Tuesday.

But there will still be a few lessons learned by Parkinson, who was in attendance to watch Leyton Orient.

Peterborough’s pressing and desire to win battles was subpar and if Wrexham come out with a similarly poor attitude on Saturday, they may suffer the same fate.

Ferguon’s men also managed to game poorly, but to Wrexham’s credit, this is an area they have excelled in so far this season.

They faced late pressure against Wycombe Wanderers and Crawley but were still able to come away with three points in both clashes.
