Ryan Reynolds’ true colours shown as private texts to Wrexham players made

Wrexham winger James McClean has lauded co-owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney for their hands on approach at the National League side and their treatment of the players

Hollywood stars Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney have earned plaudits for their hands-on approach with Wrexham AFC, including sending personal text messages to the players.

The celebrity pair have propelled Wrexham AFC to new heights, with the team poised to start the next season in League One after securing consecutive promotions from the National League and League Two. Their commitment to the club extends beyond financial investment, showing a deep emotional connection as they endeavour to ascend the football ladder.

One of their most notable achievements at the club is the signing of ex-Premier League player James McClean, who boasts 158 appearances in the top division with Sunderland and West Brom. Last season, the 35-year-old winger brought a vast array of experience to the Red Dragons, contributing to 17 goals across all competitions.

McClean, who has represented the Republic of Ireland 104 times, has been part of numerous squads throughout his time in English football. However, while providing analysis for RTE during Euro 2024, he praised the co-owners for their direct involvement and relationship with the squad and individual players.
