Wrexham beat West Brom in hot race to sign £750,000 Will Keane

Wrexham have had a bid of around £750,000 rejected by Preston for striker Will Keane, sources have told Football Insider.

West Brom are also chasing him and had their own bid rejected for him last week.

Cardiff also are interested in the 31-year-old and are weighing up a move for the former Manchester United youngster.

All three clubs are in competition to land Keane’s signature before the 31st August cut-off.

Keane has started in three of Preston’s opening five games this season and scored the winner in their 1-0 win against Luton Town last Saturday.

The striker is out of contract next summer, marking this week Preston’s final opportunity to make a profit from him unless a new deal is agreed.

Wrexham want to add Will Keane to their strong attacking lineup

Wrexham already boasts a strong selection of strikers, with Paul Mullin, Ollie Palmer, and Steve Fletcher all currently under contract.

However, Phil Parkinson wants to add further quality as he tries to guide his team to a third consecutive promotion this season.

Keane does boast League One experience as he’s featured in 99 games, scoring 39 goals and providing 12 assists.

The forward started 34 games last season for Preston and scored 13 times while providing three assists.

Wrexham have made an undefeated start to their League One campaign and will travel to Peterborough on Saturday (31 August).
