Wrexham predicted XI, team and injury news as Max Cleworth returns vs Charlton Athletic

Wrexham face off with Charlton Athletic in a League One clash on Saturday, October 26th.

The Red Dragons face a trip to South East London this weekend, taking on Charlton Athletic at the Valley.

Wrexham go into the game aiming to round out what would be an impressive undefeated week of action.

Phil Parkinson’s men earned a rare clean sheet and three points away from the Racecourse Ground when they saw off Rotherham United by one goal to nil last weekend.

The Welsh outfit were then back on home soil for their midweek League One fixture, with Wrexham drawing 0-0 against Huddersfield Town.

They are back on the road on Saturday, though, and will no doubt be presented with a tough test against Charlton Athletic.

Here is everything you need to know about the game, including team news and our predicted eleven.

Wrexham team news ahead of Charlton Athletic

It hasn’t been a great week for the Hollywood-owned club on the injury front in the build-up to Charlton.

Following rumours on social media and him then being left out of the matchday squad against Rotherham United, striker Jack Marriot is now out for four months.

Just when it looked as though things could not get any worse for Wrexham in the centre-forward department, though, Parkinson confirmed Steven Fletcher is injured as well.

On a more positive note for the Red Dragons, after Max Cleworth picked up an injury at Leyton Orient earlier in October with an ankle problem striking him down, he is seemingly nearing a return.

Cleworth was spotted training with the rest of the Wrexham players ahead of their meeting with Huddersfield.

Elsewhere, while it will not impact Saturday’s starting line-up, George Dobson and Andy Cannon are one booking away from suspension.

Wrexham predicted XI vs Charlton Athletic

With Cleworth nearing a return, he could come straight back into the eleven this weekend.

Dan Scarr, called ‘excellent’ by Parkinson, has performed well in his absence but he is the most likely centre-back to drop out against Charlton.

Outside of a potential return for Cleworth, however, there are unlikely to be too many changes, if any, to the team that started against Huddersfield.

Limited striker options and the inexperience of Modou Faal mean Paul Mullin and Ollie Palmer are all but guaranteed to start while midfield should look very similar, though there is a chance Ollie Rathbone could start given Dobson and Cannon are both close to suspension.

Here’s how we think Wrexham will line up against Charlton on Saturday…
