Aston Villa announce contract after Nottingham Forest transfer

Aston Villa news from BirminghamLive as George Hemmings signs his first professional contract

Aston Villa have announced George Hemmings has signed his first professional contract with the club.

The 17-year-old joined Villa from Nottingham Forest back in January and has impressed in his first seven U18 Premier League appearances he has made so far this season.

“We are delighted to see George sign his first professional contract,” Villa’s academy manager Mark Harrison said. “Having joined us from Nottingham Forest, we are very pleased with how he has developed and settled into his new environment.

“He shows a lot of technical qualities with a very focused attitude that will hopefully one day see him develop into a first-team player.

“He needs to continue to work hard and we look forward to seeing how he develops over the next few years.”

Hemmings follows the likes of Calum Moreland and James Wright in signing their first pro deals in recent months. Meanwhile, Tommi O’Reilly and Kerr Smith penned fresh terms before leaving the club on loan back in January.

Smith has since returned to Bodymoor Heath after suffering a hamstring injury while at St. Johnstone.
