Sky Sport Paul Merson predicts five big match results in top four premier league games today

Despite playing ‘exceptional football’ against West Ham, Sky Sports pundit Paul Merson believes Newcastle’s winning streak will come to an end with a 1-1 draw at Brentford this weekend.

Elsewhere, he thinks Man Utd (4th) will see off Everton 2-0 in the early kick-off, backs Spurs (5th) to beat Brighton (6th) by the same scoreline, tips Aston Villa (7th) to beat Forest 3-0 and expects Arsenal to leave Anfield with a 2-1 win over Liverpool (8th) on Sunday.

The former Arsenal man was full of praise for the Magpies, claiming that finishing in the top four would be “phenomenal” for us despite not spending “all the money in the world.”

However, the 55-year-old has admitted that Brentford ‘can beat anyone’ and that they have only lost once at home this season, to Arsenal.

He admits that this prediction may appear ‘harsh’ on Eddie Howe’s side, but it’s fair to say that the majority of Toon fans would have taken seven points in our last three games, especially given the nature of our victories over Manchester United and West Ham.

Here’s what Merson had to say to Sportskeeda ahead of our trip to Brentford:

“Newcastle performed admirably against West Ham the other day, and I expect them to remain in London this week.” The team spirit is fantastic, and they’ve beaten Manchester United this month.

“With seven points from three games this month, Newcastle will be pleased.” A top-four finish would be incredible. People claim to have all the money in the world, but they haven’t spent all of it, so fair play to them.

“I was surprised that Alexander Isak did not play yesterday, but Callum Wilson did.” Isak has been a real handful in the Premier League, and he’s a fantastic acquisition for Newcastle.

“This will be a good football match, and it’s difficult to predict because Brentford can beat anyone on their day.” A draw may seem harsh on Newcastle, but Brentford haven’t lost many home games.”
