Leicester City boss call to sign £11.1m 21-year-old Bayer Leverkusen wonderkid as perfect Verdy replacement

Transfer plans are already underway behind the scenes at Leicester City.

Enzo Maresca‘s side are within touching distance of a return to the Premier League after their thumping 5-0 win against Southampton on Tuesday evening.

City now only need a win in their remaining two games to mathematically secure automatic promotion at the first time of asking.

With that said, it appears club chiefs are already plotting their targets for the fast-approaching summer transfer window, as one rumour now emerges.

Leicester City interested in signing Adam Hlozek

Leicester‘s top scorer Jamie Vardy looks set to depart the club this summer after a remarkable 12-year stay.

Vardy is out of contract at the end of June and if he is to leave, City will need to find a long-term replacement.

That said, the club have today been linked with a move for Bayer Leverkusen’s ‘wonderkid’ Adam Hlozek, who could be looking to move on after limited game time.

The Foxes are monitoring Hlozek along with Championship rivals Leeds United, according to German outlet Sport Bild. Lazio and Roma are also among the interested potential suitors.

The Bundesliga outfit outlaid £11.1m for the then 19-year-old forward in 2022 and since arriving, he’s had to operate in a bit part role despite a healthy goal return.

The Czech Republic international has netted seven times in just nine starts this term, as his side strolled to the league title, unbeaten up to this stage.

Aged just 21, City should certainly consider launching a proposal at the end of the season, as he has bags of promise.

Adam Hlozek would bring a new profile to Leicester City’s attack

Hlozek is a towering centre-forward clocking in at 6ft 2, so he’d bring a totally different dimension to City’s forward line.

Further, his underlying data is particularly encouraging, as he ranks in the top seven per cent for tackles compared to his positional peers across the top five leagues, as per FBref.

Maresca is big on having a striker who presses to win balls in dangerous areas, hence why Patson Daka is so often favoured in the starting line-up despite his profligate nature.

Hlozek excels in that area of his game and even sits in the top 13 per cent for interceptions, only amplifying that notion.

He’d be the perfect fit for Leicester and with a Transfermarkt value of £10.3m, it’s certainly a feasible deal to do.
