Jared Goff, quarterback for the Detroit Lions, is overdue for a massive contract extension, and he doesn’t care that it hasn’t been completed yet.
During his offseason practice on Tuesday, Goff updated media on the status of his discussions with general manager Brad Holmes.
Goff remarked, “You never want to like say something [about wanting to rush and sign].” “There have been discussions, and Brad has informed the media as he has, and I will reiterate that there have been discussions.” Yes, my agent is keeping an eye on everything and doing a great job; I have faith in those individuals.
It’s obvious that both the Lions and Goff want the deal to close. Early in the offseason, head coach Dan Campbell declared that securing long-term contracts for quarterback QB Josh Goff and standout receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown was of utmost importance.
Indeed, you hope that a transaction is completed quickly, Goff continued. However, I have no influence over that. I would love to stay here for a very long time since I adore it here.
The 29-year-old quarterback is in the fourth year of a four-year, $134 million contract, with a $32.3 million cap charge in 2024. Considering many of the league’s best passers make upwards of $50 million annually, this contract is quite inexpensive.
According to Jeremy Fowler of ESPN, Goff will likely be among the seven highest-paid quarterbacks in the league with his next contract, which is expected to fall between $45 million and $50 million annually.

Since moving to Detroit, he has the seventh-most touchdown passes and the fourth-most passing yards.
